Even when I've had a full 8 hours sleep and woken up naturally (no alarm) I can fall asleep standing up, between one word and the next during a conversation. I'll fall asleep in the car on the way into work and on the way home in the evening, on the couch an hour or so later.... Why is this happening?

My mom and I usually get along quite well, but we had an argument recently. For a school project (I'm a college student), I want to visit a country in Africa (a safe one) to study the effects of poverty and hunger on education. She says she's not comfortable with me going. I told her she was being unreasonable and she told me she would just worry about me the entire time. There's no deeper meaning to it - the school would pay for it, so money isn't a problem. However, when I try to do things on my own, she freaks out - the last time I went to the doctor for a regular checkup and I didn't have her called in when I was done, she yelled at me for hours, even though I am at a legal age where she does not have to be present. Is she just being unreasonable, or am I, for wanting to study a few weeks during the summer in Africa?

Recently I was leaving my sister's house after dark and as I backed out of the driveway, I hit a black car parked on the other side of the street.

I went back in and told my sister, who was quite angry because her development has a home owners assoc. rule that no one is allowed to park on the street. This is because the builder intentionally built the streets very narrow and the driveways very shallow to get as many homes on the land as possible. The driveways zig-zag down the street, so anywhere you park on the street, you are parked behind a driveway, and there are no street lights. My sister said people who break this rule are just tempting fate. The developer put in two guest parking lots, so there is plenty room for visitors or three car families.

Still, we contacted the owner and a police report was filed, me being at fault. Obviously, the police can't enforce Home Owner Association bylaws. Can my insurance use the bylaws to deny the claim of the owner of the car?

Since the seperation from my husband of 24 years I have been having lots of problems coping with life.

I see a therapist twice a month and am on anti depressants. I have been having suicidal thoughts for two months.

I finally have the means and the time in which to implement my plan but my survival instinct is getting in my way and it's ticking me off. It feels like 95% of me wants to move on to a hopefully better place but that blasted 5% keeps me grounded here.

The fact I am posting this to strangers speaks of my distorted thought process. I have friends too which I can reach out but I can't force myself to do it. Yes, I have tried countless times.

It is within my nature to hope and this glimmer of something good coming from all of this keeps me going day to day. Combined with my ability to survive I am not able to determine EXACTLY what I want to do. I feel like a suicide reject.

Can anyone offer something that may help?

Can you say dysfunctional?
Mom just retired, and moved to a remote lake area with her husband of 24 years. This is scary since he likes to use up her money. She was excited about us coming out for Thanksgiving. (My 15 yr old son and I, my uncle and cousin.) This is typical- on the 2nd day of our visit, her husband started blaming my son for minor things (always part of the plan to get rid of us). So, we made an excuse and left earlier than planned the next morning. My mom was sad- but she has been manipulated by this con man since I graduated from high school. He was bad news from the start, having garage sales with my childhood momentos, & pocketing the money. She has always worked, while he pursues his "creative endeavors." He has a very obnoxious personality, and no one likes him, especially in our family. I am the only child, and my son, the only grandchild. Her husband will use up all her retirement money, and he treats her like crap. Why does she put up with him?

do you get nervous around women you like...i texted this guy i use to date we dated fora bit he was really into me although at first he said he thought i was a little scary..and was frightened to approach me..basically i was having a difficult time at work and it was right guy wrong time i could not give him the attention i should off also i was so upset about work and i was bottling it up well i just acted really wierd..Anyway its been 7 monts and i texted him to say sorry for my erratic behaviour and jokingly said 'do u still think i should be locked up?'
