Hi Everyone, I need some advice. My husband's father is a chain smoker and has lived in/smoked in his house for about 30 years without ever having the carpets/furnature/ducts cleaned. I now have a 6 month old baby girl. Although my father-in-law doesn't smoke around my baby, I have concerns about having my baby in his house.
The one time my daughter was in his house (for a total of about 10 minutes) we both left there reeking of smoke even though he didn't smoke around her.
I'm asking because we usually have Christmas at his house and I don't want to hurt his feelings, but I also don't want my baby exposed to 30 years of nasty old smoke. I also have a history of asthma, which I don't want my baby to develop.
I guess what I'm asking, how do I handle this without hurting his feelings? He's a wonderful person and I love him very much, but he will probably never stop smoking.
Any advice and personal experiences would be great!

I like my BFF's older brother, but i cant tell if he feels the same way.

Details:

He: 19, not in college, working
Me: 17, senior in HS , I'm ALWAYS at their house, and he sometimes talks to me/smiles at me. Sometimes there is eye contact, but I cant tell how he feels?

He is a pretty sneaky/secretive person, my BFF told me that he asked some girl to prom senior yr, but she turned him down. He has 4 other brothers my BFF (his sis) and a little sister and none of them know who the girl was.

How can i tell if he feels the same way?

2. I cant tell my BFF (his sis)/ask her

I really like Dylan. I asked him out but he said that he didn't want to date me becasue he did not wat that to ruin our friendship if we were ever to decide that it wouldn't work. Consider this. Satan is said to have fallen from heaven in a disagreement with God and his desire to "be a star in hell" rather than serve in heaven. As such, Satan and God are mortal enemies. Consider further that Satan is believed to punish sinners in hell. For instance, many believe that Hitler, Islamic Terrorists, or even Judas Iscariot are being punished mercilessly by Satan. At the end of Dante's Inferno, Judas is punished directly by Satan himself.

I posit that the concept of the devil punishing sinners is contradictory and illogical. The devil is against God. Hitler and Judas would be the Devil's heroes, not his playthings to torture! If the devil were bent on defeating God, he would put Hitler and Judas as his top generals. They would receive NO punishment from Satan! Assuming the devil punishes evildoers is therefore irrational.
