I am a private tutor and educational therapist. A mother of one of my students told me (not asked me) that she will be coming to watch my session with her son next week. Because I was caught off guard, I agreed. However, I do not feel as though this arrangement will be productive for me at all because I will be intimidated as will her son. The session will seem contrived and there will not be a natural flow like in our usual sessions. How can I tell the mom she can come in for 15 minutes but then she has to leave? I do not want her sitting in on the whole session because it will make everyone nervous and as though we are performing. How can I be professional and firm - but polite- so she knows where I am coming from and she respects my position. I don't want her to know I feel threatened. Please help! Thanks!

This guy I know and who is friends with friends....not on here, he's actually someone I know in person, asked me out. He planned this great night in the City...dinner, comedy club, sounds like a lot of fun. I'm not interested in him in any way other than friends and won't go any further. Should I go? Do you think he'll stop being my friend after that, once he gets it? Would you be mad if you took someone out and she only wanted a friend? He's a really nice guy, and he's a ton of fun, just not my kinda boyfriend...what would you do?

And for the record I already told him that I have three kids and can't really have a relationship now because I can't see making someone take a back seat to my kids. That wouldn't be fair, so he already kinda knows that I'm not looking.

He and I have been going out for 2 years and I came upon these pictures in his nighstand last week. She was half naked in all the pictures and in these vulgar poses. I don't know what to do. What bothered me was that they were right there where anyone could find them. What should I do??

Well, that's not true. I like that he's not an alcoholic or a crackhead. But when that becomes your standard, it's pretty bad, right? My husband loves his job and works 60 hours a week but does not make enough money for us to be comfortable. By comfortable, I mean decent clothes, food, shoes, cars, housing, cable tv. Not super-nice, but decent. Also enough to be able to hang out with his family since he has a very close family that lives about 20 miles from us. They are always doing things and the gas to just get to their homes is killing us. I work, too, only 30 hours a week but I bring home almost as much as he does. We also have a one year old, a cat, and a dog. Since he works so much, I do 99% of the caretaking. I would rather this be down to at least 85%. Same with housework. 99% should be 85%. Why do I have to pay the price for him to work a job that he likes, but pays little? I'm so unhappy, I'm not attracted to him at all. I haven't been able to have sex in a month. Help!

I mean there are some vicious hits in the NFL this year and I've been fortunate to see a few of them (Chad Johnson getting trucked, Vince Young's hit that cause him to fumble early in the season, and the ugly hit on Trent Green), but I don't see them on Monday Night's 'Jacked Up'. Last year all the great bone crunching hits were on there, this year it's like the only hits are the ones where guys walk away immediately with no after effects. Where are the big hits? Last year helmets were flying - this year, not so much? What do you think?

A friend of mine who grew up in Yorkshire read this book as a girl and it sounds great so I'm trying to find it. She THINKS this is the title but isn't 100% sure so here's the description she gave.

It's about two sisters who live in the same house, and who marry two men for very different reasons. One marries for money and has everything she dreams of - plush carpets, dresses, foods, silks, everything colourful and sumptuous. The other marries for love and has no money. But she has enough food on the table and flowers in the garden and she is happy. The one with the money becomes sad and bitter and loses her fortune or something.
And her husband does love her, but she can't see past the money. And the thing I liked about it most was the illustrations and all the sumptuous over-the-topness of one sister's house and the plain but beautiful other sister's house. She has a rose garden that she loves which grows around the door of her house.
