Are relationships in your early 20s doomed when your boyfriend's dad dies?

It happened to me 2 years ago...after we had been together for 4 1/2 years (I was 22, and he was 23) and now my best friend's boyfriend's dad died and she's asked me what I think the outcome is going to be.......and I told her she's better off breaking up with him so he can deal. Was I wrong?

How...how can you Red State folks continue to support the Republiturds?

- When you have a party that disbelieves its own security assessment that Iraq created *more* terrorists
- When you have political insiders who were *there* writing books about the screwed up things that happened in the White House being called liers
- When you have a President who states "If only my wife and my dog support me, I will not change my policy on Iraq" (a better case of megalomania and incipient dictatorship I've yet to hear)
- When - get this - the party that decries homosexuality as a sin has in charge of the creation of laws against sexual predators a guy who is - you've guessed it - a homo predator of teenage boys!!! (AND they knew about it for the last 5 years but did NOTHING about it)
- When they have a Secretary of Defence that has had a report about him released that details his dismissal of troop level suggestions, failure to anticipate the insurgency and marginalization of dissenters
- HOW, in the name of all that is sacred, can you continue to be so blinkered?

Can You Identify this VERY Weird Tree?

I live near Palm Springs, CA and spotted a large tree with massive spikes along the entire trunk. Not like the Honey Locust, these are big, solid SPIKES, not thorns. In the tree are growing fluffy, cotton-ball-looking things. No one seems to know what it is... and I can't get an anwers from Google. Any ideas anyone?

my friend needs help! how do i help?

ok my friend says he is gay and he has always acted that way and i love him to death he is my bestfriend.............. but lately he has been acting strange like he is hidding something from me and he has been well i hate to say it but he has been hitting on me, he holds my hands for no reason and he cuddles with me and he calls me everynight for no reason except to tell me goodnight. he also wont let me talk to other guys because he get jealous. and even his family (who have supported him this whole way) has come up to me and said that they dont think he is gay.
