Truthfully, I don't have a problem with it except when people use God's name in vain.

No, no where in the bible does it say thou shall not say "***, shyt, azz, bittch", etc but it does say not to use the Lord's name in vain. I try to follow that one. And if it slips, I apologize right then and there...especially when I'm driving!
Personally, I think words are words.

Hi Spiritoso!! :o) I agree with you. I don't think using swear words [other than using God's name in vain] is a sin. But I don't think it's appropriate for a Christian to use vulgar language. A Christian has a responsibility to impress upon others that he/she is kind, considerate and compassionate. And that's NOT going to be the impression one gets from a Christian if that Christian uses words that are more commonly associated with the [how can I say this?] not-so-nice!! Have a great day!! Craig!! :o)

Society has changed the meaning of what "cursing" is. In history, cursing was wishing someone harm either through prayer, words, or sometimes different spells. So in that case it would be a "sin". However using random metaphors that society itself has deemed wrong would not normally be except in the old testiment of the King James Bible where it says different. Handed down to the pope wherein lies the words "As on earth, so in heaven". Also it differs for how you mean it. See your pastor for further guidance.

i dont think it is a sin, unless like u say using gods or the lords name in vain or being guilty of blasphemy.... words are words... years ago some of these words we use didnt exist... though casting judgment on others is not ur job and cursing at someone in a judging way like calling them names isnt nice maybe it could be considered a sin in that aspect...

Cursing is different from swearing. Swearing can take God's & JC name in vain which makes it frivolous & disrespectful. Cursing is worse coz you are saying & wish some to die or have a bad accident. There is power in the aubible voice that is spoken out. A lot of people don't believe tt, but my mom talks to her plant & she swear they grow better.

I don't have a problem with it either, unless people use God's name in vain.

But I think it's sinful. It shows disrespect, and it doesn't conform to Christ's life.

Sorry. :-( I have been getting those not-right feelings lately...which historically mean that God is nudging me to change my ways. And if God is nudging me to change something, it's usually 'cause what I'm doing is wrong. This has been my experience, anyway.

It is going to be a hard thing to rid my life of, I will say that.

Col 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
