Acording to the book "Old Path White Clouds" a biography of the Buddha by Thich Naht Hanh the Buddha prescribed the Monk's way of life as the most desirable as it was free of worry and responsibility.

Does this imply that to be a true follower of the Buddha's path one must give up all efforts and pursuits and just live off the efforts of others ?

The skeleton of a supposed human ancestor has recently been found and hailed as a child. How can you tell that the skeleton is that of a child. Or, from the other side of the coin, a dwarf ancestor was supposedly found in Indonesia, why was that not described as a child instead?

As a Muslim I am keen to perform all the fasts in the month of Ramadan. The only problem is that I am a smoker and would find it very difficult to go without cigarettes for a whole day (shameful I know!) Can you please advise me on the use of nicotine replacement therapies during Ramadan, including nicotine patches and nicotine inhalers where nicotine is absorbed in to the blood stream through the tongue. On why we cry, obviously if something emotional, wether good or bad happens it is going to release in some way, and tears of joy or sorrow are the same tears, it is not as if green tears appear for sadness and pink for joy, so why does an emotion wether good or bad make us cry, and why do some people not cry at all. Is crying something that should be encouraged or repressed? is crying good for you?

Ok, ok, I know it's all natural etc but there must be a good way to control it....

I have a cold water tank - about 40 litres with 3 small fish (present for my 2 year old daughter). It has a pump and gravel (and a plant) but after about a week, the algae return...

I have a magnetic scraper - works ok for about 2 days
I've tried these A--B compound liquids - no apparent difference (although I was probably a bit woolly on following the instructions...
I've tried these tea-bag things (something about nitrates??)

Anyway - ideas welcome!!!
