I heard that the young guy in blues clues died of an overdose, I think his name was Donovan Patton. It was a few years ago, does any one know if that's true and is that his name?

Donovan Patton is still alive and doing stuff. I found that the rumor was from the other host of the show.

I found this on IMDB.com

In 1998, rumors started circulating that former host Steve Burns had died following drug-related problems. The rumor became so serious that Burns appeared on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" (1996) to reassure his young audience that he was alive and well

Steve is fine and did an album with the band members of The Flaming Lips. It is actually a good album. look him up on the internet, just type http://www.steveswebpage.com/. I believe his website is songs for dustmites or something like that. It is current and still running. His video for "what I do On Saturday" shows him walking around town and kids and parents following him around. He is proud of his Blues Clues work but just thought it was time for him to move on.

Do you mean steve....On nickjr.com under the parent videos they actually do a clip on the rumor. Steve did not die from an overdose. He was becoming prematurely bald and didn't want anyone to know. They show a recent pic of him....wow he looks different. They didn't want the kids to worry so they wrote the show as if Steve were going off the college and his brother would take over.

He didn't die. It's all rumours apparently. His brother is taking over the role.
There's an article on these links:

I know the original guy went to college so he had to leave the show. I don't remember what his name was though.

hey, well is a lie, he was actually trying to make his own band but didn't work, later on he started using drugs and all that kind of stuff..so he got really bad that they had to tell the lil kids that "STEVAE IS GOING TO COLLEGE"..he still appears in some of them ,with this new ugly guy..but he's not dead.

yeah he tried a metal type band for a while, the main thing is we was afraid of getting "stuck" in that role turning into a kinda Fred Rogers per se, so he figured it was time to get out of it....myself i owuld think its a steady paycheck, and if you like it stick with it

Steve left the show to be in a metal band. He didn't die.
