how to maintain a website?

i want to start a travel info website and i dont know how to make updations in my site?is there anything other than that to maintain the site. explain me

If you are talking about maintaing a site once it is complete, it's not too hard if you know some web site basics. Get Dreamweaver, open the file "ie:italy.html" in preview mode. Make your changes, save it and upload it back to the server. If you didn't make the site, be careful to make a back up in another folder so you can revert back in case of error. Good Luck.

So, you have not started one, either?
Never mind.
first you need to make one on your pc (if you do it), thus need the software like
Dreamweaver MX for editing html/css files (plus php/asp/java etc)
Photoshop CS for editing graphics files
Flash MX for editing flash files, etc.
you can find free softwares doing the same too.

Then you need a hosting and a domain for your site
domain names cost about Rs.300-800 per name per TLD (.com/.net/.in) per year.
hosting may be free (but with ads of the hosting site) or paid with rates starting from around Rs.600 per year for a linux hosting with php/mysql support and email (deltahost.co.in)

you'll also need a FTP client software like WS FTP or SmartFTP or CuteFTP for uploadin/downloading files from your site.
