I hope some of you who responded to my earlier question (re. the gf who works 60+ hours/wk) are still answering. I really appreciated the advice and did get somewhere with a conversation. I at least know what is going on a little better. The situation is this: she is hearing a lot of negativity from some of her friends re her true intentions in terms of our relationship. Unfortunately, one is her ex (who I obviously wish she would stop talking to). They still have the same circle of friends and runs into the ex occasionally. My problem is this: the ex cheated on my gf. My gf revealed a lot when we talked, notably that she understood why the ex cheated. This is obviously (I think) preposterous and indefensible. She said she worked a lot (ironic) and pushed the ex away. Question: I want her to know that she can't forgive herself for something that wasn't her fault. How do I do this? I want her to stop talking to her ex, too. Is this reasonable?

I have a five month old hound/bordercollie mix who is an excellent retriever with an exceptional ability to leap and is progressing as he continues to grow into his VERY long legs. I live near a river and he loves the water. However, we have no dock or pier for him to practice leaping from. A few days ago I came home to find my (not even a year old yet) G4 17" Powerbook frozen. Rebooted and got stuck on the loading screen. The people at the Apple store informed me the hard drive was shot and that it can't even "read the directory".

Does anyone know of a way I can salvage my files without spending $500 on recovery fees? I've already tried the NVRAM reset and got stuck at the loading screen again. the PMU reset did nothing. Any ideas, guys?

Do you think that in contemporary pop culture today, being gay is turning into more of a fashion statement than anything else?

As a young 25-year old gay man, I think it's extremely offensive when people want to be gay when they're not, just because it's cool (ie. metrosexuals, or girls making out with other girls for no other reason than to please their bf's).

To me it's like a slap in the face for all the crap I went through growing up: being tormented by the jocks in school, shoved into lockers, being called ******* or queer, etc.
