If you don't want to go electric try buying a papaya fruit and cut it up and mash it and mix it into a bowl covering the meat. The is a tenderizing enyme in papaya that will do the job. Also, buy Adolph's Meat Tenderizer in your store it works by sprinkling it on the meat and it includes the enzyme from the papaya to do the same job.

When I was a little girl, I can remember my mom pounding round steak with the edge of a coffee saucer. I know it works, cause she dredged it in flour and fried it and it was so tender!!

Just take the saucer and use the edge of it like a hammer on the meat till it looks like cube steak.

the best meat tenderizer known to man is a little fruit named Kiwi. Try it. Just peal it and mash the fruit into a pulp. Put your steaks into a bowl and add water. Add your spices...and the Kiwi pulp. Let it sit overnight. You will have the best steak of your life.
Hope that helps.

Anything acidic will break down the bonds in the meat. It just depends on your tastes. Or you can buy a meat tenderizer in the grocery store. I like to use bbq sauce to marinate/tenderize meat.

You can probably find on at the dollar store. Or use a hammer, put the meat in a ziplock and pound away!

kiwis are good for it, just mash them up and add to your marinade.
or papayas too.... you can, if you feel adventurous, take the seeds from the papaya, dry them out in a low oven and then ground them and this will be a better tenderizer than papaya itself.
also you could just add some cornflour to your marinade and it will also do the job.

Lemon juice. The acid will tenderize the meat.

There's a gadget called a "Jaccard" which has razor-like tines that pierce the meat. It can make the toughest cut soft a butter. I have been using it for over 20 yrs.
