Ok! Even if its a new relationship or an old one thats not worked out, the best thing to do is to get a common subject to chat about.
I found that taking a girl out on a date for a nice meal and then something like Mumma Mia (Abba the musical) is really cool. It gives you a good starting point, they think you are sweet and they love the musical. At the end of they day its all the two of you want to talk about.
The good thing about this is that you go out for lunch and then see the musical and by the time you finish its time to take her home. By the time that's done the day is out and you then have the chance to ask for a second date. If the first one was good, then a second is a definate. What you do from there is up to you.
This has worked 8 out of 7 times I suggested it to friends. (One friend found Lion King so boring and could not chat about it that evening that the girl thought that he was trying to buy his way to her bed and got the boot, so at least show some interest and think of things to chat about)

Somewhere thats full of romance and natural beauty, like in the winter you would take her to an ice palace. Or in the summer, a private park or cottage that is surrounded with hundreds of different types of flowers, trees... And a waterfall! Sorry, I'm a hopeless romantic :) Infact, forget the waterfall. You have to keep it simple. Even a picnic in a private park (just keep the ants away).

If the relationship is sour you really need to think why do you want to re kindle it. Relationships end for a reason. You need to understand that reason and then move on with your life. You will then be much happier from the lesson learned.
