In the early 20th C, jazz and blues began with black people singing lyrics that were often obscene or subversive. Now jazz and blues are played by orchestras world wide.
Rock music in the 50s kicked off when white performers such as Elvis copied black musical styles. Back then rock and roll was seen as degenerate and a threat to society. Now rock songs such as Lennon's "Imagine" are routinely played by orchestras. I know it's a scary thought, but could the same thing happen with rap? Black people singing offensive lyrics
