There are technical manuals for technicians, but the material is far beyond the comprehension of novices. You may do more damage than good.

please don't take this the wrong way, but the "for dummies" series of books are easy to understand and contain a wealth of information. there are many titles, all ending with "for dummies", like win XP for dummies(my xp bible...lol)
