I mean, when you read it you think this is just unbelievable genius. This sometimes happens when I read Nietzsche or Emerson or poetry by D.H. Lawrence or Lord Byron or writings by George Bernard Shaw or Herman Hessee. I ask this because I am writing a philosophy book, which is mostly finished, but when is philosphy ever finished? Could you give me some examples. Just no Kant please. And as a lifetime philosophy junky, please Dear God, no religeon.

There is a factory in America which makes the Tickle Me Elmo toys. The toy laughs when you tickle it under the arm. A new employee is hired at the Tickle Me Elmo factory and she reports for her first day promptly at 8:00am.

The next day at 8:45am there is a knock at the Personnel Manager's door. The foreman from the assembly line throws open the door and begins to rant about the new employee. He complains that she is incredibly slow and the whole line is backing up, putting the entire production line behind schedule.

The personnel manager decides he should see this for himself so the 2 men march down to the factory floor. When they get there, the line is so backed up that there are Tickle Me Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really beginning to pile up.

At the end of the line stands the new employee surrounded by mountains of Tickle Me Elmo's. She has a roll of plush red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles. The 2 men watch in amazement as she cuts a little piece of fabric, wraps it around two marbles and begins to carefully sew the little package between Elmo's legs.

The Personnel Manager bursts into laughter. After several minutes of hysterics he pulls himself together and approaches the woman. "I'm sorry," he says to her, barely able to keep a straight face, "but I think you misunderstood the instructions I gave you yesterday. Your job is to give Elmo two test TICKLES".

I've known this guy for more than 25 years. He and I used to be good friends. We hung out together all the time at his house. We played phone pranks on people, we told jokes, we just had a great time together. Then we grew up. In later years, he and his family moved away. He still calls my house to this day, but I no longer want anything to do with him, because he's a loser. People had always warned me about him. He has no ambition in life whatsoever, and has lived with his mother all these years (until recently), and collected government disability checks. He doesn't want to learn anything new, and doesn't want to get a job. And he thinks that some woman is going to marry him for who he is (and not the fact that he has loads of money in the bank that his late father left him). He always discouraged me from doing anything with MY life, because he didn't want me to go away. I always thought he might be a bit queer, and I don't want anything to do with him anymore. What now?

I have heard that sometimes people who score high in areas like schophrenia can in fact be very artistic and/or metaphysical and I'm also interested in discussion of how a subject who has had significant psychotherapy might be more adjusted, either having overcome difficulties or learning to manage them so that the MMPI-2 interpretation might not accurately reflect a persons level of functioning. An example might be someone who is successfully managing OCD. All the MMPI-2 test results I've seen clearly caution that it's important to look at a person's history and functioning to determine the significance of test schores that are <> the average testee, but I need substaintiation to present the alternative explaination. Ideally, if someone can point me to a book, website, a professional journal or even a research center or university that has some documentation or research on this issue.

I really love my boyfriend, and we've been going out for 9 months now. The problem is this: Our relationship seems to go nowhere, we never hold hands, or kiss, or anything. There's this guy that I've known my whole life, and I really really like him, and I always have. I don't know who to go out with. If I break up with my boyfriend, I'm afraid he'll hate me, and he'll be heart broken for sure. I also don't want to dump him and go out with this other guy, just to break up with him in a few months. Then both make me so happy, and I love them both. My boyfriend's family and friends also really like me, and I don't want to upset them or make them mad. What should I do??? I'm really upset and confused.

I have a one story, 2000 sq ft home with three bedrooms and two baths. I'm thinking of taking up ALL the carpet and putting down Pergo type hardwood floors, even in the kitchen, but not the bathrooms or laundry room.

Anybody have any idea what this might cost me, and does anybody have any praise or regrets on having done this already?

Why is it that so many people are looking to make money and get gifts out of their wedding? I think its pathetic all the questions about money dances and how to ask for money as a wedding gift. Half my guests at my wedding didn't give anything and I couldn't care less. It was about gaining a husband and person I love more then anything, not about making money off of it or trying to get others to pay for my wedding. Maybe thats why so many marriages fail today. Peopl are more interested in getting out then putting in. Can anyone please tell me why people are so selfish?

God is Omniscient so he knows what is going to happen before it happens, so why does he get "surprised, angry, and regretful" in the Bible?! In order to feel an emotion it has to sort of sneak up on you, like if I heard in 3 days I was going to get cussed out by some guy in a resturaunt, then when it actually happened I wouldn't be surprised or angry, just like, "hah, it did happen!" But God no only gets angry and surprised, he regrets his decisions?! Then if he regretted a decision perhaps he isn't omniscient or perfect. A personal God does not make sense to me. We are to him as ants are to us, why is God freaking out and killing kids over calling people baldies and among many other surprised angry violent acts and regretful decisions that his omniscient perfect God brings upon the world. He even had to search for Adam and Eve because he couldn't find them, and then got surprised when they ate the apple and punished everyone out of anger. Why?

Anyone explain that?!

can someone explain to me one night stands with a total stranger.. and such... where you dont have any connection or emotions.. how is that possible that you just have sex without any personal attachment and no intimacy? im not condeming people who do it, i was just wondering if someone could explain why it happens.
