Yes! My fiance and I are proof of it!

Also, the chances are not "more slim" like the first guy said. According to Valtrex (one of the companies that make medication for herpes), 70% of people with genital herpes got it from their partner when they were showing no signs or symptoms of the virus (like an outbreak).

I got genital herpes over 5 years ago from a guy that I had slept with ONE time. He was not having an outbreak at the time, or showing any signs of the virus. About 3 weeks later I had my first outbreak and my doctor diagnosed me with genital herpes.

My fiance (boyfriend at the time) got the virus from me when I wasn't having an outbreak. About 2-3 weeks after we started sleeping together he developed his first outbreak. I was showing no signs of the virus and was not on an outbreak.

So yes, it is definitely possible to get genital herpes from someone, even if they are currently not having an outbreak. There are rare cases though of people who have been together 10+ years, one has the virus and the other doesn't. This is pretty rare though.

you absolutely can. even if she never has another breakout in her life. there is suppressive therapy but it is still possible to get the disease. the chances also depend on which type she has. type 1 of the mouth is more likely than type 1 of the genitals because the genitals are not the "home area" also type 2 of the genitals is MUCH more likey than type 2 of the mouth because the mouth is not type2's "home area". i am a med student. lol. i dont have herpes

Yes,you don't have to have a breakout or an open sore to get it,go get checked before you pass it on. IF you haven't already gotten it,use protection,it's not only to protect your partner,it's to protect YOU as well

If she is not broke out and has no open sores (like even a cut from shaving would equal an open sore in my book) then chances are low you would get them....

If you have unprotected sex with a woman who you know has herpes, in any stage, then you can't be surprised if you get it, and maybe something else too that she forgot to mention, or that she doesn't even know she has. DON'T have Unprotected SEX

it can happened but the chances are significantly decreased. talk to your doctor right away and watch for symptoms.also abstain from any sex until you find out what is happening.
