I know lots of kids do it when they aren't hungry anymore, but she does it when she first sits down to eat - so she does it when she is hungry. She is also only at the 5% for weight (and 95% for height) and classified as underweight, so withholding food is not an option (several books say you should end mealtime the moment they throw food).
So far my method has been when she throws something, I tell her that when you throw food you lose the privilege of feeding yourself and then I feed her the rest of her food, which doesn't seem to bother her at all. I've basically been feeding her everything because usually the first thing I give her gets tossed from the high chair. She has to learn to feed herself one of these days right???
