The most common answer is that, "if it weren't for God, we would never experience life, love, and the universe as we know it" (or some variation thereof).
But does this same logic not also apply to our own parents, and everyone else from whom we have descended? I.e., "if it weren't for [our moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, etc.], we would never experience life, love, and the universe as we know it." But for our parents act of procreation, we would not exist.
And while our parents are certainly entitled to love and respect, I don't know of any rational parent who expects to be worshipped. Why should God?
