The most common answer is that, "if it weren't for God, we would never experience life, love, and the universe as we know it" (or some variation thereof).
But does this same logic not also apply to our own parents, and everyone else from whom we have descended? I.e., "if it weren't for [our moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, etc.], we would never experience life, love, and the universe as we know it." But for our parents act of procreation, we would not exist.
And while our parents are certainly entitled to love and respect, I don't know of any rational parent who expects to be worshipped. Why should God?

Really good question and no really good answers here. Why does god need to be worshipped, what does he care?
Sorry no answer but good question!

The Worship of the Almighty is not for the benefit of the Almighty Lord. If an ant in my room venerates me, shows me respect and talks to other ants about me in glowing terms, how do I benefit from it? I may give the ant some grains to take home for being a wise ant to realize that she has a relationship with a human being. It is the benefit for the ant, not me.
Similarly, if everything goes away, the Lord MOst High still remains, regardless of the Sun or the Earth. We can do nothing to benefit HIM ALmighty, but we can form a relationship with him and a method of communicating with him and acknowledge him.
A deer in america does not appreciate the American government and has no relationship with the President. YOU or I may. Who is privileged?
Parents are A REASON, not THE REASON for our creation. We do not worship our parents because they are themselves dependent on many of the things that the Lord made for them.
Each of us breathes teh free air of the LORD to live, we drink his water, eat his food, walk on his earth, watch the beautiful landscapes, skies and enjoy the round earth that is not concave, but convex. When you mature, you begin to see the administration. If you are a deer, you may not understand that a whole path was crossed for you with an underpass under a highway or signs were planted for your protection. If you were a person, you would thank those who did favors to you. If you were an animal, you just ignore and benefit, until it is time to go.
I hope I am making sense.

God created all things, not just us but everything that exists should he not deserve and have the right to say what mankind does? Our parents like you said deserve respect but they have no right to be worshiped as God does since they may have procreated but they did not actually create us!It is like our food grows from seed, but who makes it grow not us by justy ading water and other necessary nutrients but literaly the growing into the different types of vegies fruits etc, our parents don't make these things, but we are here because of God's Will caring and creating us and his creating our nurturing environment preparingit for us,we should at least be gratefull yet many do not even accept his existance but they accept his food that he makes for them and that without even a word of thanks from them, they probanbly too think God shouldn't be worshiped, but who are they to decide what God should or shouldn't expect from his creation?Anyway you cannot compare our parents grandparents great grand parents etc, to God there is no comparison at al!

God is not a parent, but a creator.
God acts through us, as we are in His image, but on that token do not place your parents above God.
Worshipping doesn't necessarily mean getting on your knees and chanting and slaughtering cattle in an offering. U can worship false idols like money and sex by placing themt above all. Don't make me define all.
Try to live life by the Word, with an emphasis on TRY. You can worship Him that way.
That's my thoughts. Thanx 4 your time.

Because He is God and deserves it.
Why don't you ask why was Jesus (God) willing to suffer at the hands of evil men and die for you to have a chance to go to Heaven when you and I are not worthy of Him?
God is Love, Justice, Mercy, and everything that is good and beautiful, and God is all powerful, all knowing, and eternal.
God gives us our life, and we can do nothing without Him.
People worship celebrities who are mere mortals like ourselves, but they don't know why they should worship God.

for me there are many reasons... for starters God made a way for us to be with Him in heaven through Jesus Christ even though time and time again we let Him down. He forgives everytime we ask.
Also, God created everything. Even if you don't believe in Him, He provides you with air to fill your lungs and for most of us health in our youth. He provides protection and many other things even when we forget to ask. God is good and merciful and is worthy of praise.

Agreed. Besides, shouldn't we master loving one another before attempting to master worshipping anything?

if god did exist he lacks self-confidence, has very low self-esteem, because if he was all-powerful, all-knowing and all-loving he would not need us to acknowledge him through prayer or worship
