Even though I made a reservation over a month prior, owner claimed no such reservation existed. They entered my room while I was gone, took the receipt they had given me and locked me out.

I have heard on a couple of occasions that people from Seattle are rude. Being from the Northwest, I havent found that to be true. Any opinions or experiences with Seattleites?

Traffic is bad, people are uncaring, and cost of living is high. The scorching summers seem to get worse every year. I've lived here all my life, but I think I could use a change of pace. Plus, my wife really wants to live somewhere where she can throw a snowball at me without really having weather be a struggle.

Another motivation is that I want to start a family, and house prices in So-Cal are astronomical. Is Seattle family oriented? How is the job market for business, marketing, entertainment, engineering, logistics, and biotechnology positions?

Please let me know if this is a good idea. Any help is much appreciated.

Am thinking of moving there and heard this is the grayest time. If I love it at non-peak I am sure I will love it year round. What should I see in the city/area and maybe during this time of year?

I need to move to a city where colleges are affordable and the crime rate is low. Also with good, decent, affordable apartments. I was thinking of Seattle, and Syracuse but Syracuse is a tad bit expensive.

Any suggestions?
Btw: it has to have good colleges!

We will be relocating to the Seattle area in a month. My husband's job will be in Bellevue. We've been seeing more sublets in Seattle, versus the eastside, so we're thinking of living in Seattle for a couple of months until we find a home to buy.

I've read and been told that the traffic (especially across Lake Washington) is horrible but no one's ever given us numbers. Can anyone tell me approx. how long the commute is during normal rush hour? We live in the high-traffic San Francisco area now... so "horrible" for Seattle could be what we're used to?? Please share what Seattle neighborhd. you're basing your commute time on. THANKS!!
