Is there a large artist community is Seattle? A good number of contemporary galleries? Does the art tend to be more crafty, or is there a market for high-end fine art? (Is it all just pretty landscape paintings and still lifes, or is there a place for conceptual art as well? Performance art?)

Is Seattle a public transportation-friendly city? How is the weather during new year? Is late Dec or early Jan a good time to visit Seattle?

We are taking the early AM train on Saturday to Vancouver and won't return until late Sunday night. Is there any overnight parking near Amtrak's King Street Station? I know about King Street Center parking garage, but they charge $20 a day ($40 a weekend), so I'm hoping to find something cheaper.

Thanks!

I'm planning to stay for 4 nights in January. I like museums, beer, shopping, and lots of other things. I will also have a rental car, so fun things to do near Seattle would be appreciated too.

I'm currently living in Seattle, Washington, after having pranced around Europe for a while. (I'm from Mnachester, England)
I'm getting my driving permit soon but for the moment I have a bike and the bus system.

I'm just wanting to know if any of you folks have ideas on what to do here? I like the place alot ... but I'm 20 so they won't let me in bars ... which was what I spent much time doing in Europe!

Taco Bell is out of the question - It smells tastey but I'm vegan!

Hello. I am a Michigan teacher certified in elementary education and Spanish. I hope to relocate to either the Seattle or Vancouver (WA) areas by next fall. I am currently in the process of getting certified in Washington, but would like to know a few things:

1) Does generally a lot of hiring take place in the education field?
2) Namely, what are some nice districts to work for?
3) Specifically, where would an ideal location be to live for an avid music/concert lover?

Thank you for your help!
