I live in Lynnwood and the two answers above me are right. It is pretty crowded and besides the mall (any other shopping centers) there isn't much to do in actual Lynnwood it is mainly a retail and residential town, but there about a million other things to do around us, you will only be about 15 miles from downtown Seattle, and Everett is even closer north, there is really so much to do all around, the Edmonds waterfront just a few miles, the faeries, sports, hiking trails. It is a pretty decent place to live. Lynnwood is pretty high in small crime, (higher then most surrounding towns Mount Lake Terrace, Edmonds, etc...) breaking into cars that sort of thing, taking CD players speakers, breaking windows, so you should take some normal precautions with your car if you have one in a public place.. But really that's pretty standard unfortunately with most big metro areas.

I live in Lynnwood, like others have said it's good for shopping, restraunts, movies, quite a few nice city parks too. You do have to take I-5 or 99 to Seattle though which can be crowded, if you plan on commuting. Lynnwood has become quite crowded, overall it's a safe area but it varies. The safest area of Lynnwood is probably north and west, near Bothell/Mill Creek. It's really pretty typical for a suburban town, but there's lots to do. Everything you need is basically right here.

Lynnwood is pretty typical of suburbia. It's got a huge shopping area (Alderwood) for which it is probably best known. Actually, it's a fairly commericialized area...lots of shopping, restaurants, etc.

It's close to Seattle - about 15-20 minute drive in good traffic, but just far enough away that you feel like you aren't in the city. Commuting back and forth to Seattle could potentially be a headache though, depending on where you will be working.

All of the Seattle area is pretty great, lots of beautiful scenery and smart, friendly people.

Good luck with your move!

Lynnwood is a good area, just North of Seattle, near a great Mall -
Alderwood Mall. The big drawback is that if you want to take the Freeway into Seattle - you take I-5 which is constantly bumper to bumper. You can take 99 but is has a lot of Traffic Lights.
