I have a suggested itinerary for everyone I talk to, here it is:

Pike Place Market:
http://www.pikeplacemarket.org/frameset....
~ I would recommend parking in their garage when you first visit the city. It's accessible from both the waterfront & 1st Ave, which makes it very convenient.
~ Pike's Market is a MUST-SEE. It's the oldest market in Seattle, has 3 or 4 levels of shops, restaurants, etc. Go on an empty stomach, because there are numerous food vendors and the food is delicious!!
~ Home to the very first Starbucks!

Pioneer Square/Underground Tour
http://www.pioneersquare.org/
http://www.undergroundtour.com/......
~You can walk down 1st avenue to Pioneer Square from the Market. Pioneer Square is where Seattle began! Lots of shops, restaurants, antiques.
~ Take the Underground Tour for sure! They take you under the city streets and teach you (in a very entertaining way) about the history of Seattle. It's at Doc Maynard's bar.

Ferry ride to Bremerton or Bainbridge:
http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/......
~ Walk to ferry dock from Pioneer Square. Catch a ferry by foot, bring your camera...it's a beautiful view of the city. Once across, you have to step off for a few minutes, then you can ride back.

Seattle Waterfront:
http://www.cityofseattle.net/tour/water....
~ From the ferry dock, you can stroll along the waterfront back to the parking garage. Waterfront is mostly shops and restaurants. My favorite is the "Ye Olde Curiosity Shop", which is also a museum of sorts.
~This is your best bet for halibut! Maybe check out The Fisherman's Restaurant that's in the Bay Pavillion.

If you have time:
Space Needle/Seattle Center:

http://www.seattlecenter.com
~ Goes without saying that you have to see the Space Needle!! It's a Seattle landmark! You should check the calender on seattlecenter.com to see what else is going on there when you are there.

Other things to do might be the Woodland Park Zoo, the Pacific Science Center & the Museum of Flight...you can see quite a few attractions by picking up a Citypass. http://www.citypass.com/city/seattle.html

As for bars & restaurants, for lunch I'd always recommend eating at the market. There's also a few good "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants in Pioneer Square that are great for a quick bite at lunchtime. Seafood is readily available on the waterfront. Coffee is everywhere (literally)... As for bars, I'd recommend a little bar hopping at either Pioneer Square (a little rough) or in Belltown (more trendy).

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

The Space Needle is neat to go up in, but better yet, if you are looking of a view over pretty much the whole Puget Sound area, go to the top of the Bank of America tower (used to be called the Columbia Tower). It's the tallest building in Seattle, it costs 5 dollars to go up to the top, but it's worth it more than the Space Needle.

Also go past Seattle to see some of the neat sights such as Snoqualmie falls and Mt. Rainier. Seattle is a beautiful city. I hope you enjoy your time here. Oh, while your hear, go to the bar "Howl and the Moon" by the Seahawk Stadium. It's a piano bar and it's a blast.

I enjoyed the Museum of flight at Boeing's factory. It's a large, well-maintained museum, and includes some Boeing historical information, but also some rare historic aircraft, including a retired Air Force One (Presidential aircraft) that you can walk through, and also a Concorde.

Another major museum in Seattle is the Experience Music Project Museum. To me, this was somewhat similar to Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's not my favorite type of museum, but it could be a must-see for you if you enjoy that type of thing.
