Am thinking of moving there and heard this is the grayest time. If I love it at non-peak I am sure I will love it year round. What should I see in the city/area and maybe during this time of year?

No matter whether it's grey & drizzly or sunny & warm, the best attractions are much the same. Here's a list of my favorites:

Pike Place Market:
http://www.pikeplacemarket.org
~ I would recommend parking in their garage when you first visit the city. It's accessible from both the waterfront & the Market, which makes it very convenient.
~ Pike's Market is a MUST-SEE. It's the oldest market in Seattle, has 3 or 4 levels of shops, restaurants, etc. Go on an empty stomach, because there are numerous food vendors and the food is delicious!!
~ Home to the very first Starbucks!

Pioneer Square/Underground Tour

http://www.undergroundtour.com/
~You can walk down 1st avenue to Pioneer Square from the Market or take the free bus that runs during the day.
~ Pioneer Square is where Seattle began! Lots of shops, restaurants, antiques.
~ Take the Underground Tour for sure! They take you under the city streets and teach you (in a very entertaining way) about the history of Seattle. It's at Doc Maynard's.

Ferry ride to Bremerton or Bainbridge:

~ Walk to ferry dock from Pioneer Square. Catch a ferry by foot, bring your camera...it's a beautiful view of the city. Once across, you have to step off for a few minutes, then you can ride back.

Seattle Waterfront:

~ From the ferry dock, you can stroll along the waterfront back to the parking garage. Waterfront is mostly shops and restaurants. My favorite is the "Ye Olde Curiosity Shop", which is also a museum of sorts.
~Have seafood for dinner...Maybe check out The Fisherman's Restaurant that's in the Bay Pavillion.
~The Seattle Aquarium can also be nice during the winter, as it's mostly indoors.

Space Needle/Seattle Center:

~ Goes without saying that you have to see the Space Needle!! It's a Seattle landmark! You should check the calender on seattlecenter.com to see what else is going on there when you are there.

Other museums you might like to visit would be: Museum of Flight, Burke Museum of Natural History, Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI), and the Asian Art Museum (the regular Art Museum is closed for renovations).

If you feel like going outside the city, I'd recommend day trips to Port Townsend, Coupeville, and/or Deception Pass. These are great places to visit, even in dreary weather.

Whatever you decide, have a great trip!

Check out the Experience Music Project, while there you can also check out the Space Needle. Also go to Pike's Street Market, then walk around the Waterfront and downtown. These are the basic (but must see) tourist spots. To get a real feel for Seattle spend some time in the University District.

Yes. Sara, Seattle is a great city, and cheaper than San Fran but it is no San Fran. Being just north of Seattle (Vancouver, Canada) and having visited CA/San Fran, there is no sub for San Fran. But Seattle is much more affordable and a good hub to north and south. You could visit me for eg. I love business types. U ll be happy you made the move to either place.

I know you're into business so visiting Microsoft in Redwood and the Boeing plant might be on your list in Seattle.

Good luck wid that!!!!!!
