Seattle is beautiful year round.
If you want to see it at its best (sunny skies, warm weather) then late summer, early fall. However, if you are considering moving here, then I recommend you come sometime in Jan-March, when it is its greyest. I love the northwest, year round, as do many people. They beauty can hardly be surpassed!

I live in Seattle and I say come visit whenever you have a spare moment. Summer is definately the best time of the year, but if you visited now you would still have some of the summer like weather (just a little cooler.) I don't know what one of the previous posters was talking about, we get snow every year (not every 20 years.) Granted it's never a lot of snow, we get a huge snow storm every 5 years or so. Last year we were snowed on 3 times and had almost a month of below freezing temperatures (and the snow stuck around the whole time, we had a snowman that we swore would never melt.) The problem with the winter is when there isn't moisture in the air, it's below freezing, but the moisture comes from the ocean so when it's present it is generally above freezing (but barely.) Winter is gorgeous, I would visit around Christmas or in January. Spring in April and May are also great times to visit. Good luck.

Everybody is right, I have relatives in the area. I have visited in June through October. The dry months are supposed to be August and September and they can be dry but, not necessarily dry. Pick the season you like and go. The rain can vary from a drizzle to a down pour. And once every 20 years it will snow in Seattle. Storms or the weather is predictable for about 8-12 hours ahead because they come down from Alaska along the Canadian coast. When the average rainfall is 270 days more or less you just expect it to rain or be cloudy. Yet you go over the Cascades to the middle of Washington and you have a desert. Nice place to visit. Have fun.

I've lived in Washington just over a year now, and spring in the Seattle area is beautiful! However, if you want to avoid the rain, try for July and August. It seldom rains hard here at any time - mostly it just drizzles. All in all, though, there really isn't a BAD time to visit.

Late August/September/Early October is best. Lots of sunshine, moderate temperatures, still clear enough to go to Mt. Baker or Mt. Rainier if you have the time. Late June/July/Early August can sometimes be a little to warm (for my liking anyway) and the rain usually starts in late October and ends in April.

Hope you get the chance to come visit us...it's a beautiful area!

Actually the summer is the best time - even right now is good. I lived there for 7 years and it is very beautiful all the time, but the rain is pretty bad during the spring. So I would try to go between
June and October.

I love visiting there anytime of year. Logically if you want to consider moving there, you may actually not want to see it at the "best" time, because then you may be disappointed.
