Hi we are planning a trip to San Diego over Christmas. I saw that the average high was 65. What should I expect from the weather? Should we bring any shorts? I am sure swimming is out of the question, but will it still be nice to walk along the beach? I would love any advice you may have. Also bringing two elementary age children and plan on seeing SeaWorld, the Zoo, and possibly Legoland. Have a whole week to spend. Ideas would be great.

I am moving with my girlfriend to San Diego perhaps...Do you think it's a safe area? I'm moving from Ohio in a year and a half and am trying to plan ahead as much and as well as possible. If anyone has personally moved to Cali from somewhere like Ohio, I would love to talk to them and get some tips and just have someone to talk to (becker103@yahoo.com). Anyone who wants to post some advice, suggestions, etc feel free! Thank you very much.

My family is fairly big with an expected 80-110 people planning the trip in 2008. We've done this every 4 years since 1984 and the west coast is on the rotation now. We would like it San Diego, but hard to get the right price per night ($80-100) with kitchens, ect in Diego.
We're looking into tahoe as a possibility being only an hour away from Reno (major airport). Possibly get a house for 10-15 people and get 4-5 houses similar in the area.
We've had success in the past with colleges closed for the summer and renting out their dorm rooms at a great price (Santa Barbara in 1996). Any ideas would be great.
Thanks

If you have recommendations for places to buy reasonably priced but somewhat artsy furniture in SD, I'd appreciate it.

I am driving cross country from Boston to San Diego because I am moving to San Diego. Some friends are coming along for the ride who have to get back to work in Boston by a certain time. We leave Oct. 21 and we need to get to San Diego no later than 10/28.

We are driving the southern route I believe, going from 84 to 81 to 40 all the way. How many miles/hours should we drive each day to make that deadline but also stay safe?

I will also have a U-Haul trailer attached to my car so can only go so fast. I would also like to sleep each night. Also, should we reserve motel rooms each morning or wait until we get to our destination each night? Will the motels charge if we cancel within 24 hours?

Any advice about this and road trips in general would be extremely helpful. Thank you so much!
