If you have recommendations for places to buy reasonably priced but somewhat artsy furniture in SD, I'd appreciate it.

Just bought some furniture at a very cheap place in Chula Vista called Furniture Warehouse. It is located at 995 Bay Blvd. They have a lot of different types of furniture which ranges from mundane to classy. I mostly mention it because it is so cheap (but also pretty nice) it might stretch your money far enough so that you can exceed your original goals.

Othere than that... shoot for Ikea on Friars Road, or one of the zillions of furniture stores/boutiques. You can find some quirky things in Pacific Beach on Garnett and Adams Ave/El Cajon Blvd/University Blvd in Hillcrest/University Heights/North Park.

Ikea has a lot of stuff that isn't expensive and that your grandmother probably wouldn't have owned.
