I will be heading to San Digo in March for a week trip with some friends. What are some top "must do" and what to stay away from. Anyone know what the weather is like in March? Any great places to visit? Sea World? Whale watching?!?! Anything?! Is it easy to get around... etc.!!! Thanks so so much!

Last august, I took a road in CA starting from san francisco and ending in San Diego. Now everything went great until my brother and I decided to go to Mission beach. I left my belongings for 5 minutes to search for my brother in the ocean. I come back, low and behold, everything was gone my brand new phone, camera, $100 ray ban sunglasses and my wallet which luckily only had $20. I had all of this hidden under towels and plastic bags. Trust me, since then I've learned my lesson and been more careful. My question is does this happen often in Mission beach??

My husband and I are going to be in San Diego for 3 days in late January. Does anyone have any good ideas for things to see and do? Looking for something a little out of the ordinary. We have plans for SeaWorld already, but looking for other things also. We like outdoorsy/nature/historical/sightseeing type activities.

Also any suggestions on restaurants would be appreciated.

I live in San Diego and want to get away with my boyfriend for a weekend. I just want to go somewhere where we can relax; somewhere where there are interesting places to visit. Nothing expensive though.

is the spot. lake san marcos, the quails inn. only about 125
dollars a night, on the lake, lots of entertainment people in
the general area, protected by us marines at camp pendleton
to the west, us navy base to the south, and a lotta retired
real men and real women. i live across rancho santa
fe road from the lake on the west side, just across off of
broken rock. when the going gets tuff the tuff go to san diego
county, north county. try it, you make like it. join us on
the border. we're doing the best we can. sorry your house
caught on fire. here by my house, there's a fire station
right around the corner. i was a child actor from 8-14 in movies
and tv, i'm 56 now. its a rough racket. sales is a tuff racket too.
you'd be surprised who pops in around here, sometimes
have other homes to go to. or there is suzanne boehm, an
amazing story of near death and recovery. mine is similar.
glad you made it out of there alive. phew!!

We are visting San Diego next week my nephew was suppose to graduate the Marines but he got hurt and pushed it back until Februrary so we can't get out of the tickets so I was wondering if Disneyland was too far of a drive to go visit since my daughter has never been and also is the Zoo worth going to? We will only be out there for 2 1/2 days so what do you think?

Wanting to avoid the rust of school kids in this area on Spring break when I travel there. If anyone knows when it is (so that I can go at a different time) that would be great. Happy New Year to all

Thanks to everyone who answered my earlier question. I see that I am unable to respond in the same thread, for whatever reason, so I've started a new one. I've looked at Poway, and it looks like just what I'm looking for. I have a question about some of the other areas mentioned, though, (and Poway to a certain extent). What is traffic really like in San Diego? For those that recommended San Carlos, is it possible to get to La Jolla in 45 minutes from there during rush hour? What about San Marcos and some of the other areas mentioned? Where I live, in the northeast, traffic is a disaster and it takes at least twice mapquest's estimate to get anywhere. Is San Diego similar? Or os it a simple matter to zip around from one side of the city to the other? Again, thanks. This will help me better guage the reasonableness of some of the places mentioned in the other question.

I may be moving to the San Diego area with my family this summer. I have two small children (both under age five), and want to find a town or neighborhood that is safe, has good schools, and has plenty of age-appropriate activities and spaces to play in. Could someone recommend some towns or areas that might be suitable?

Here are some more details:

-I need to be within a reasonable commute of both La Jolla and downtown San Diego (say, a max of 45 minutes during rush hour).
-I am looking to purchase a 4+ bedroom, 2+ bath house at around the $600,000-$650,000 range (I'm assuming that nothing will be available at less than that in this area).
-The area should definitely have good schools, with plenty of extracurricular activities available, preferably through the county or municipality (such as ballet and swimming).
-I'd prefer to live in an area where college-educated white-collar professionals (lawyers/scientists/etc.) with families tend to live.

Thanks for any advice!
