I've never been there and I'll only be able to spent a day there (12-13 hrs). I'm from Texas and this is my first trip to both NYC and Philly, so I need specifics (train #'s, station names, corner streets, etc.). I'd like to see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and all that good stuff. Thanks for your help!!

I currently live in Valley Forge and work in Center City Philadelphia. The daily to and fro commute on the Schuylkill expressway is horrible. Is there a clean suburb close to Philly with an easy commute into the city in the morning and out of the city in the evening? I am open to any place in PA or DE and a commute time of upto 25 minutes. Any suggestions?

I must get from Exton, PA to Long Island (Bellmore/Merrick), NY without driving.
From Exton to Philadelphia is cheap and quick using SEPTA, but what about once I am at 30th St. Station in Philly?

From Penn Station to Long Island is also cheap and easy using LIRR.

What about from Philly to NYC?!!
Thanks

Our group consists of two couples, avg age 30, ranging in occupation from goat farmer to body piercer. We'll be in Philly Sunday 12/10 and Monday 12/11. The plan, and I use that word loosely, for Sunday is to meet for lunch at Jim's Steaks, hit the Mutter Museum for a few hours, eat dinner at Ludwig's Garten, and see the Christmas Lights Show. Monday will have breakfast from Isgro bakery, shopping and lunch at Reading Terminal Market and a meal somewhere before we part company. (I've got lots of eateries picked out as options, not planned things.) What else should we do?

A couple years ago I went to Great Adventure (2002 & 2003) during this time and they had a huge Christmas light exhibit. Do they still do that?

A real fake? I've seen a lot of people asking questions about Philly. That's what the plaque says next to the Liberty Bell!

I am looking to live in an area that has a lot going on and a lot of other young professionals in the area. I'd like to be able to walk out of my apartment and walk to a coffee shop, a bar, a shopping center or a restuarant. I've lived in or temporarily stayed in, a lot of cities across the country and the world and the best answer would be from someone who has also done so. A lot of people who have been in some cities their whole lives think their city is amazing and will make a city or area out to be great only because they don't really have any idea how it compares to other places. So in short , any advice from someone who knows a lot about Philly but also about other places would be really appreciated.
