I must get from Exton, PA to Long Island (Bellmore/Merrick), NY without driving.
From Exton to Philadelphia is cheap and quick using SEPTA, but what about once I am at 30th St. Station in Philly?

From Penn Station to Long Island is also cheap and easy using LIRR.

What about from Philly to NYC?!!
Thanks

The fastest way to NYC is rt 287 N through Jersey. You'll cross into NY over the Tapanzee bridge.

The cheapest would be to take a bus from the Greyhound bus station in Center City. However, you can also take the R7 Regional Rail train (SEPTA) from 30th Street Station to Trenton, where you pick up the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor line, which will take you to Penn Station in NYC.

The fastest way is definitely Amtrak, but it is significantly more expensive than a bus or the regional rails.

See these sites for details on all three companies:
NJ Transit: http://www.njtransit.com
SEPTA: http://www.septa.org
Amtrak: http://www.amtrak.com

There's a bus that runs from Chinatown in Philadelphia to Chinatown in NYC for $20 r/t. If not, take the SEPTA R7 to Trenton and then the NJ Transit from Trenton to NY Penn Station. That costs $18.50 one way, $37 for a round trip. From Penn Station, you're right...the LIRR is your best bet to Bellmore.

The cheapest way from Philly to NYC would be via Greyhound/NJ Transit bus. The trip should not cost more than $15 one way and it would leave you at the Port Authority Bus station located at 40th Street and 8th Avenue. From there Penn Station (where you would catch the LIRR) is just about 6 blocks south on 8th Avenue, or one subway station away.

A more expensive way would be to take the train to NYC. It would leave you within Penn Station and you would just walk through the terminal to get to the LIRR.

You can take the R7 train from 30th street to Trenton- $7.00 (one way) go onto www.septa.org for the schedule. Then you take NJ transit train from Trenton to NY Penn station- $11.50 (one way). Go to www.njtransit.com for the schedule.

I used to travel back and forth from Philly to New York via the train and this was the cheapest and fastest way to do it. Amtrak is expensive and the bus takes to long.

amtrak is available between Philly and NYC, but not cheap. If you can get to Trenton, New Jersey Transit to Penn Station is cheaper.

The Chinese bus (Fung Wa? ) is around $10 or something of the sort. It is probably the cheapest however I 'm not sure the safest.

Once you are in the city, if you are going to LI, you will need to take the LIRR.
