Well depending on your sons age, you might be able to enjoy the Please Touch Museum (22 & Race) Enterance fee is only 10 dollars a person and there are plenty of hands on activities that you and your son can enjoy.

There are lots of things for parents and children to do while visiting Philadelphia. How old is your son? As another poster mentioned, the Christmas Lights show is on now at 13th and Market Streets. It's free too.

Other things you can do include the Franklin Institute. It's a great science museum (I went there when I was 9 and loved it). It's at 222 N. 20th Street.

Also, the University of Pennsylvania Archaeology & Anthropology has a lot of ancient artifacts from Egypt and Mesopotamia (and other areas like Central America too). If your son is into ancient stuff, you should definitely give it a visit. It's at the corner of 32nd and South Streets. Admission is only $5-$8 and I believe it is free on Sundays (open 1-5 on Sundays).

Also, go to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell while you're in town. Depending on how old your son is, he may like it a lot. They are around 5th and Market Streets.

Philadelphia also has the oldest Zoo in America. I haven't been there, but I'm sure kids love it. It's at 3400 W Gerard Ave.

For a longer list of things to do with children in Philadelphia, see this site: http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2739445-cat-children-philadelphia_things_to_do-i;_ylt=AjXLgLvCLhePX6uV5oX.oNiuFmoL

Have fun in Philly and post again if you have any other questions :)

The Historic District. The Original Capital. Take a horse drawn carriage around old city. There are lots of museums besides the art museum (Rocky). Get a cheesesteak on South Street (voted best 8 years in a row by Philadelphia magazine) Then go home. Don't go out after dark........I moved FROM there, trust me.
