Is anyone familiar with the neighborhood? Is it a nice section of the city or not so nice?

As a general rule, north and west philly are bad. Center city is the best. Other areas are OK sometimes.

As in any urban area, there are good, bad, and other sections. Gray's Ferry is not the best of areas, but it isn't that bad. There are better sections of Philadelphia that are not as expensive as Center City, like Mt. Airy; Chestnut Hill; Germantown; etc.
