No. Calif. with places like San Francisco, Oakland, Berkely, Santa Cruz, and Silicon Valley are like what, as compared to So. California towns like LA, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Orange County?

Can you give an accurate description that would differentiate the culture and lifestyles between the two areas? How do the landscapes generally differ? What about the people? Any noticiable demographic differences?

In general, which of the two areas of this state would you rather live if you had to choose?

I'm not interested in MA or NY. I'm searching for a state that has good public transportation and has lots to see and do for about 5 days for grad students.

Well, I just graduated high school and want to travel with my friend, who's also 17. I was wondering whether or not I can book a hotel room, especially if I'm going to pay in cash. I'm thinking there won't be a way for them to find out I'm 17. Am I right? Is this a good plan? If not, then what should I do?

I have 2 kids, would love a great school system where they are going to be well educated, taxes low, low crime rate, preferably the 'burbs of a metropolitan area.

I've already lived in California, so that is out of the question because prices were so ridiculous when I did live out there from 2001-2005 which is why I moved.

Right now, we live in the middle of nowhere, New Hampshire and it sucks. There is no places that are around where I live for my typer of career (web designer/developer), there are hardly any kids where we live and frankly, the kids where we live are not nice and a bit older than my 2 are.

The school system is the big thing. The school system in this area sucks, it is one of the worst in the nation and the dropout rate at the high school is unbelievable, so much that dropouts around here hang out at the local Dunkin' Donuts, there are no malls within 60 miles of here and a real city is about an hour plus away.

So... any suggestions?

I am one of the many mortgage casulties that has been laid off. I am thinking of packing up and starting over. I have lived in Northern Ca all my life and am thinking of moving. I dont want it to be to hot (over 100 degrees) and I cant take the snow/cold real well at all. Any sugguestions? I heard maybe Kentucky or New Mexico would be good. I am not concerned much with crime because its everywhere. I also would like the cost of living to be decent and the job market decent too. Please let me know and thanks for your answers in advance!

How? Is there a bus for it? Or do I have to go from Richmond to Roanoke, and then to Blacksburg? I'm gonna be landing on Richmond's Airport and I'm kinda lost. Greyhound seems not to go that direction also.
Thanks.

I currently live in southern california and its just too damn expensive to live the way I want (which is not outrageous by any means). Im thinking of moving to a different state but unsure of how to go about finding the newjob/interviewing, finding a home, and unaware of which place to go to!!!

I live in greater LA county. I have a business degree and 4 years of work experience (last 2 have been in banking)..all were sales related. Where is a good place to go that has weather similar to home but where my $$ can be a nice size house (preferably in the 200k-300k range)??
