Kauai is the nicknamed the garden island or isle...it's really scenic and it's quiet. Maui is pretty scenic, too. There's some resorts on Maui but nothing compared to Oahu. If you want to avoid hordes of other tourists, avoid Oahu.

You just can't go wrong with Kaua'i...
If you want to stay in fancy hotels - you can, on the other hand, if barely-developed areas would be your favourite, you can find that, too... And the people/square mile ratio is far superior to either Oahu or Maui...

Go to Molokai... a little known island that is perfect for some R&R.
