Well, I just graduated high school and want to travel with my friend, who's also 17. I was wondering whether or not I can book a hotel room, especially if I'm going to pay in cash. I'm thinking there won't be a way for them to find out I'm 17. Am I right? Is this a good plan? If not, then what should I do?

What about a hostel or a youth hostel?

If you call and reserve with a credit card there shouldn't be a problem unless it's not your card. I don't think you can pay in cash for a room without a credit card to back up your payment because they need security in case you destroy the room.

well, you can't really book at hotel at age 17. I think you have to be at least 18. But if a parent or someone 18 or older pays/checks in with you, you can stay. So have someone 18 or older come with you. If you don't have a friend 18 or older, bring your parents. I know that sucks, but that's the only way.

Don't know about any hostels here. You have to be legal age for a hotel no matter how you pay unless a parent is with you.

You have to be atleast 18 to get a room. Most will look at your id.. But you should plan ahead and call the hotel to see what their policies are

As far as I know..you ca'nt rent a hotel room if you are not of legal age. Even if you pay in cash, they still want Id and they take your name, address and they DO check age.

for the motel chain I work for, you MUST be at least 18, with a valid state issued ID (card, drivers license) or a passport. We DO check all people that want to rent rooms for identification.

NOt recommended. SOme places INSIST in credit card anyway...too likely to get roobbed so they prefer as little cash on hand as possible.
