Fort Lauderdale, Florida is absolutely beautiful. Originally from New York I moved to Ft. Lauderdale florida and lived there for 15 years after I got divorced. Found a decent job and worked in the same place for 15 years. There are wealthy places there like Weston about 20 minutes from the beach, job market is OK and you can make decent money there. The weather is great most of the year but the summers are really humid. Ft. Lauderdale is about 30 minutes north of Miami. I did move back to New York to be closer to my daughter but I will probably move back there in a few years.

it is a pretty good sized city and it has lots of crime as most do in florida these days but if you can survive elsewhere in Florida you should be ok i do not think the spring breakers go there that much anymore so it is better
