what do you think is the best parade to go to in NYC and why? I like going to the Labor Day parade, because of all the food they sell, the costumes, the bands and floats. Even though it did get sort of wack for the last couple of years by banning alchohol and NYPD being strict with the onlookers, I still think it's a good expreince for people who is interested in seeing Caribbean culture, and enjoying great food.

I'm happy to do all the touristy stuff, but would like an area with a bit a character too. My preference would be for somewhere with a more "indie" relaxed feel, with some decent bars etc.

Any hotel recommendations would be appreciated too!

I'd like to plan ahead for the next New Years celebration. I've never been to New York. Can you recommend any good hotels or other suggestions for spending a few days there next year. Personal experiences welcomed.

I will be starting graduate school in the fall as will my fiance, soon to be husband. He will be attending Manhattan School of Music in Morningside Heights and I will be attending Hofstra University in Hempstead. We need a good half-way point to live so that neither one of us has to commute too much. We won't have a lot of money and were looking into living in Queens. Any suggestions?

If I was to earn either £35,000 in London or $70,000 in New York, which would allow me a better quality of life. So what are the differences in the take home pay after tax, what would the comparison of rent be, eating out, etc. Please base answers on a lively, 27 year old wanting to live in a safe area, in a nice apartment ( flatshare) not neccesarily in Manhattan.
