Your hotel is practically in Times Square, so definitely walk down Broadway to check out the lights in the big city as well as see the studios of ABC, & MTV. Funnily enough, I think they opened a Juniors in Times Square, so you will not have to go to Brooklyn for that timeless pleasure, then there is Carmines, the street vendors, the "pickpockets". Don't be afraid, but just be mindful of where your wallet is... Once you get tired of the lights, and considering your age, you will probably want to either continue downtown for nightlife or to go back uptown towards the Lincoln Center area, they have nice restaurants and some night spots and dive bars (just like back at home). As the other person mentioned, definitely take in a show, if you didn't buy tickets before hand you can always try the TKTS stand (also in Times Square) read about it before you go, but its for low cost theatre tickets, you have to do the horse and buggy ride in Central Park and I'd also reccommend going to the revolving hotel bar at the Marriott Marquis for an incredible view of the entire city.

Most of my suggestions are for midtown, because that is where you are staying... but there is too much to see in NY..

Junior's in Brooklyn for Cheesecake....Grimaldis in brooklyn, for Pizza, These places are going to be much better than all the touristy crap in Manhattan. Juniors also has a full menu thats not half bad either. Heartstone brewery is fun and decent food and good food, on 43rd between 6th and broadway. Ben and Jacks on east 44th between 2nd and 3rd is a great little steak house...IMO better than Lugar's. Those are in Manhattan. Have fun and Happy Anniversary!!
