It depends on the airport. JFK has a metro line directly to Manhattan and you can transfer to the Times Square line from that one. La Guardia can be reached by bus, but it will take a while. I don't know about Newark.

Take the JFK Airtrain to Jamaica. Then connect to the Long Island Rail Road at take it to Penn Station. From there you can either walk the few blocks to Times Square, or take the 1, 2, 3 or A, C, E train to 42nd St./Times Square station. You could also take the E train from Jamaica directly to 42nd St./Times Square, it's less expensive but will take much longer, and the subway can be kinda seedy if you're doing this at night.

I got this from a website

From LGA, the Q33 bus (to 82nd St.) to 7 train to Times Square is faster and more direct than the M60. $1.50 with free MetroCard transfer. A taxi from LGA is metered, probably about $20 + toll (if applicable) + tip.

From JFK, take the free bus to the A train to Times Square. Direct, but further than LGA -- $1.50. Taxi is a flat $35 + tip.

EWR - Take the monorial to NJ Transit to NY Penn ($11.15). Taxi is a flat $34 to Times Square + tolls ($6 for tunnel + ~$1 NJ Turnpike, if they go that way) + tip. EWR is substantially closer/faster than JFK, but probably not cheaper to get to/from.

your best route would be by train. A bus would take forever, trust me.

There is the JFK shuttle (Airtrain, I think its free). Transfer to A/C line, take that to Manhattan, W 4th St., Transfer to F or V to 42nd Street, which where Times Square is.

Take the air train to the subway. Then take the subway to times square. If you have a lot of luggage you might be better off with a cab though.

Yes, there is an airtrain you can take to the subway. Its probably easier to take a cab though. It only costs around $45
