I am currently not in USA. I will be relocating to Houston in 6 months time. My employer has offered me salary of 60K annual + 10-15K bonus (70-75K total package) along with Health Insurance for family.

I will be moving with my wife (2 person family) Please guide me what would be my average expenditure per month in houston for average style living.

1) Apartment Rent (1-2 BR)
2) Food (If mostly cooked at home) & groceries
3) Utility bills (electricity, water, gas)
4) If i buy a car on installments (btw i have no idea of car prices in US. A decent second hand car will be ok for me), car insurance.
5) Any other major expenses..

How much should i expect to save after all expenditures if i have average living style?

Btw i dont have any idea how much taxes would be deducted from my salary? Say if my salary is 5K per month, how much taxes will be deducted if i am married and my wife is not working.

Is 70-75K per month in houston a good salary keeping in mind the living cost

I've never been to houston and I'm going with some of my friends, so I would like to have fun when we go. I love hip hop clubs so if anybody could give us some ideas and where I can find them and what days there're open it would be really helpful and anything else there is to do out there.

We have a sailboat, which we sail a lot, and we're looking for a sweet little town near or on a lake somewhere in the east/south Texas area, maybe around Houston. Does anyone know of such a place?

We have no real ideas yet and we're open to anywhere really between Texas and Florida, along the coast as we want to sail in the ocean from time to time.

Ok im on the road to houston and i need to know if theres any route faster to get to Sugarland, Houston from San Antonio.

I always take the route to houston from SA and then go to sugarland through houston and it takes me 5-6 hours driving.
Any other faster routes? Other than plane cuz i hate planes and like to drive

It is looking like I might need to drive in Houston for a couple of days. I am scared to death to drive in new places. How does Houston compare to other cities? I live in Denver but it seems pretty small compared to places out east. I could never drive in Albany or New Jersey (near New York). I have driven in San Diego and that wasn't too bad. I would be flying into the BUSH airport on a Wednesday and trying to stay mostly up north. I need to drive to Temple, TX. And then I would love to take my mom to the Bayou gardens. That would be on a Sunday. So I was hoping traffic would be manageable for that. If I print out directions from Mapquest would I be able to find my way around. I did this for Albany but there were so many interchanges and stuff that we still ended up driving around for an hour lost.

Thanks,
Sonne

I frequently fly from London Gatwick to Houston TX. I usually go with BA. I'm taking my boyfriend over this summer to meet my Dad, but he's being really funny about the expense. Can anyone reccommend best airlines or websites or even how far in advance we should leave it before booking to get the best price?

I'm lookin' to get outa philly because of all the violence and *hit. My question is being that I happen to be gay and black all my friends tell me to move to the ATL, but I am also intrested now in Houston as a place to live. Would I be better of in Atlanta or Houston being 22, black, and gay? How's the nightlife in Houston? Is the city too country, or will someone like myself adapt well coming from the northeast? Do I need a car? Where to live? I might be working at Methodist Hospital in downtown H-town.
