If you are moving from Houston to NYC, then this should be posted over in the New York area, shouldn't it?

Most of us are Houstonians.

I'm from the area, and while I haven't lived near NYC for 30 years, you couldn't find jack in Manhattan for that price range unless it was a closet-sized subdivide... ten by twelve, that kind of thing.

Consider roommates, consider New Jersey, but you won't find a whole lot for that price range.

The housing market is very different and very expense in New York compared to Houston. Sadly I don't think you can get anything that you would be interested in for that price range, but good luck.

Do you want roommates? If not, I think you will have a hard time finding a place in that range. You could try looking in Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood, or Queens - but I think most of these apartments will leave a lot to be desired. You might be able to find something for 1100-1200, but forget anything under 1000. Even if it exists, you dont want it...

Got a friend who pays $1300 for 174sq ft studio in East Village :-(
You need to get an agent for finding apartment in NYC, they charge you one month rent, but you have easier way to see places. It will depend on how much commute you want to do. Brooklyn is a nice place, but you need to take trains. Also, do you have a car? If yes, you need to find a place with good parking available. Good luck!!

You won't find anything in that price range. I live 1.5 hours north of the city and you can't live here for that. Sorry.
