What are some nice things to do with the family while visiting Houston? We are debating on going to Houston for a weekend and would like some suggetions. Thanks.

If you like to shop, go to the Galleria or the Woodlands. If you like good meat & wine, go to Fogo de Chao. If you like sports, we have AHL hockey, NFL, MLB & NBA/WNBA. The zoo is nice & the Butterfly thingy at the Natural History Museum. The Fine Art Museum has an AWESOME French painters exhibit right now. There are lots of theatres downtown. Oh, if you don't mind going to Galveston, there's Moody Gardens. If you like waterparks, go to Splashtown.

Make a plan. Do some research. Look at your interests and those of your children. Then you narrow it down to one general area. One weekend isn't much time, so you need a plan. There is a lot of construction going on, so allow extra time for getting around town. You may want to contact the Chamber of Commerce to request some travel brochures. Check out some Houston websites.

Go to the Galleria off of Loop 610 .. it has so many things to do with kids there. Restaurants, alot of stores (which are mainly meant for people who won the lottery, but sure you could look around), and they have a HUGE Ice Skating Rink in the middle of the mall on the ground floor. It's really cool, I took my wife and my nephew there last weekend and we had alot of fun. Be careful with the traffic around that area though it is enormous on the weekends. It took us 45 minutes to get in and park.

good museums in the museum distric, plenty of good restaruants, shopping is good,Galleria Mall or Memorial City, now the Rodeo is here for a few weeks, MLB starting in April, at Minute maid park,Memorial park,Johsnon Space Center to the south, Clear Lake

See the space museum in Webster (a suburb of Huston) and the beaches in Galveston are nice weather permitting.
