Here's five more:
1. We're spread out, so you can live anywhere you want and still be in Houston... urban, suburban, rural... it is all here.
2. Go into a supermarket and see the selection of foods from all over the world, and not just in Fiesta. Then look at the prices. I've traveled everywhere, and we're cheap.
3. Several world class universities.
4. Sports teams galore... baseball, hockey, basketball, and yes we do have the Texans who will hopefully dump David Carr.
5. Anyone can make it here, provided they TRY.

The key is to live close to where you work and the traffic is not as bad. Ignore the Oscar the grouch with all the negatives. Houstonian's are very friendly down home people yet in a huge city. Once you get used to the hot, humidt summers the rest is a breeze. This is one of the few places you can wear shorts year round. Jobs pay great and housing is very affordable compared to other major cities.

the good
cost of living is cheaper, affordable houses than say california or new york
no state tax
awesome restaurants
affordable houses
no need for a heavy jacket during winter
the bad:
can be excruiatingly hot and humid
potholes all over the place that dont seem to get fixed
never ending construction

Houston is awful. I can think of many other places greater than Houston. People who are from out of state or not native Houstonians rant about how great Houston is. :(
