Hey guys. Some friends and I are going to be going to Lollapalooza in Chicago later this summer. What seems to be a cheap and convenient way of transport around town. The concerts might be ending late and I just want to know if this is a good idea or am I going to get mugged? Thanks!

I'll be going to Chicago next week for a day. I'm 22, but I'm not really looking for nightlife or bar scene (as I will be with company of my father who's 40+).

What should I go check out, if I only have 1 day to experience Chicago?

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a list of sights / tourist attractions etc that can be seen when driving from Toronto to Chicago? The route is as follows :

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=42.636084~-83.513314&style=r&lvl=7&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&rtp=pos.r878p58cj2zw_toronto%2C%20ontario~pos.qzdmps7pxjzb_Chicago%2C%20Illinois%2C%20United%20States&encType=1

Links to websites that have this info would also be good !

Thanks.

a friend and i are going to Chicago and have rooms at the Embassy Suites downtown. he wants to take public transportation (with our luggage) to the nearest stop and then walk. i disagree, and would prefer a cab. he's a penny pincher; roughly how much would fare be from the airport to downtown?

Anyone have a cell phone in the Chicago area that gets excellent reception in the subway?

If so what model phone is it, and who is your carrier? I always see people in the underground subway chatting away, and want to ask what carrier they use...but they are always on the phone. Thanks!

My mother, sister (16) and I (18) are going to spend a few days in Chicago this August. I have to plan it, so I was wondering if there was anything inexpensive we could do.

I have some other questions too like is a CityPass ticket, at $49.50 a person, worth it? Apparently they get you into the Adler Planetarium, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry and the Hancock Obeservatory. And are these places really interesting? Are balcony seats, at about $30-50, to shows like "Wicked" or "The Color Purple" any good? What are some safe, decent hotels in the $100-130 a night ranges near Union Station? And where exactly is Union Station (we're coming by train)? Is Michagan Ave worth visiting? And what's the best form of transportation for people who are used to driving everywhere? What do you think a 16 yr old would like to do?

Lastly, if you had only $125 or so (not including food, hotel or transportation) to spend per person for 3 days, what would you do?

When I was a little girl (about 15 years ago) my class went on a field trip to a museum in Chicago. There was this huge horse/pony that was made of clear plastic and it was filled with recycled plastic toys and such. I thought it was the Museum of Science and Industry but I was just there and did not see it. They have some other recycling stuff, but not what I'm looking for. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Preferably near a body of water, pond or lake. Would definitely love a spot on the beach, but I can't imagine a secluded spot easy to find. I'm thinking about being there around noon, and possibly stay there into the evening. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
