Pretty much. It's more affordable than the NYC suburbs and the LA/San Diego/San Fran burbs. Housing is so-so closer into the city, but further out is good.

Buffalo Grove is pretty upper middle for housing prices.

It's a nice area, and you get what you pay for - good schools, etc.

Affordable compared to what?

BG is generally an upper middle class suburb. Don't be home shopping there with less that 400K in your pocket at the minimum.

It is a reasonable place to live. There's a lot of Russian and Jewish people living there. It's also pretty quiet and safe. Prices are not bad, but other towns nearby are more expensive. Towns like Libertyville, Deerfield, and Lake Forest.

200ks and up. It kinda far from Chicago so if you wanna be close to the city it might not work out for you.
