found a hotel in Lyons IL only 3.5 miles from midway and Midway METRA station, how easy will it be to get around and to the METRA station? ( taking the train into the city)

I'm sure the hotel has a shuttle to Midway, then just catch the Orange line to downtown.

That's not a bad location if you want to visit Brookfield Zoo. I tried finding a typical route from a hotel on Ogden AV in Lyons to the Art Institute on Michigan AV. The normally very reliable RTA site said, "... could not complete my request.
Please call 836-7000 for assistance."

There are METRA stations in nearby Riverside and Brookfield for a quick trip to Union Station so possibly you'll have to cab it to the train first.

Route your own trip at the site below:

Whoa! That's a sucky location! You'll have quite a trek! The Metra is nice...but what a pain! Cancel your reservation and stay downtown! It's worth the money! You haven't seen Chicago till you go to sleep there and wake up there. I hate taking the train...it's just a pain. 3.5 miles in Chicago is a long way!
