Serious answers only please - this is a genuine question. I feel that train companies in the UK have given me bad service. Is there a travel ombudsman I can complain to?

Further to previous answers, don't tell me to go and live on the continent please - it isn't very helpful.

We live in Switzerland and will most likely fly to London (although other suggestions are welcome). My cousin's getting married in Cornwall on Easter Monday (April 8th I believe). We should be able to leave home mid-afternoon on the Wednesday before and would need to be back not too too late Tuesday night.

Two adults, two kids, 11 & 8. My husband can drive RHD if need be. I don't drive at all. 11yo has been known to get carsick. Rent a car? Take the train? Bum a lift off another cousin? Is there a better airport to fly into?

I don't really know where in Cornwall!

Any advice on our best plan in terms of cost, convenience, sight-seeing opportunities, etc. would be most welcome. Thanks in advance!

called bird or broad in the UK???

I thought I was called a bird by a Brit visiting the states but effingpot.com refers to males as blokes and females as broads.

My fiance's father (in the UK) has a fear of flying and our wedding will be in the US. With flying not an option, I'm worried he will not be able to make it.

I'm so incredibly angry. I'm travelling home from London (Paddington) to Newton Abbot (Devon) for my father's birthday. It will cost £63 for return ticket. This is obscenely expensive for a 2.5 hours journey each way. I am booking ONE MONTH ahead. Don't say coach - I'm not spending 5 hours travelling on a Friday night. Any secrets for bookig cheaper train tickets? - is it true the cheap tickets are released in 'batches' so it's just luck of the draw when you get cheaper tickets, rather than how far ahead you book? Advice please!
This is a journey I do often but it's never been this expensive before - never over £40 that I can recall.
This is a question about TRAINS - I'm not interested in alternative forms of transport, thanks. I like the train and I don't intend to get a car or use the coach. Thanks for any intelligent replies to this genuine question.

is it a national anthem, or do England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have their own anthems? I just saw a video of Mark Elder conducting it -Last Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall '06. Simply stirring!
