I've been seeing things on television like George Clooney saying how the UK views the US as a bunch of bullies, but most of that comes from politics (imo). Personally, I see the UK as the fathering country of the US. Yes, we had a fall out in the past, but blood is always thicker than water and we always stick together. UK is family and we need to help each other when needed. Maybe my statement is outdated, but personally I'll believe in UK as much as the US. You really can't separate the two anymore.

I am going to cornwall in march with my girlfriend, looking to stay in a cottage.....BUT WHERE??
What town/city in cornwall would you reccomend? ideally we would like the cottage to be somewhere quiet and scenic but close enough to a big town, good bars, restaurants. Some good cornish charm. (already been advised to avoid newquay).
If anyone could point me in the right direction or offer any good info, i would be really grateful. Thanks

I'M FEEL DIZZY WHEN BEING ASK THIS QUESTION.

Is that true that in England they don't refill your soft drinks for you at the restaurant when you sit down and eat with your family? If they don't do that, what happens? Do they charge you for a secondary drink then? Is it true that you don't leave tips to the wait staff? Here in America we give them at least 10 percent. It's customary. The reason for all the questions.....I have been playing Xbox 360 for a little while, and I have friends that I play with that are from England, and I have been playing with them for a long time, and now, I am getting ready to go to England for a couple weeks, and visit with a few of them. I want to know some of the customs when I get there, so that I don't look like a complete tosser. O, I was also told that I can't bring my Handgun with me, even though I have a concealed carry permit here. England isn't a very gun friendly country, i've been told. Anyway, I look forward to the responses. Cheers!

As was explained to me, Surrey is populated by the Nouveau Rich; stockbrokers, business executives and the like with plenty of cash. While Berkshire is home to the aristocracy and the professional classes; complete with their well-groomed educations and pedigrees. Ever wonder why all the major polo grounds are in Berkshire and not Surrey? And why Royal Ascot and Windsor Castle are favourites of the Church and Queen crowd?

Of course lots of people say england is expensive, because of the strong pound. But do english people think the same? after all you earn in pounds, it shouldn't feel expensive, or is it? do wages compensate the cost of living there? Can you afford to live in a good apartment without sharing, go out, and save money for the future?
