Of course lots of people say england is expensive, because of the strong pound. But do english people think the same? after all you earn in pounds, it shouldn't feel expensive, or is it? do wages compensate the cost of living there? Can you afford to live in a good apartment without sharing, go out, and save money for the future?

no, your cost of living is cheaper, I went to Florida and I found the food, accommodation was a lot cheaper.
The cost of housing over here is really expensive.
As for wages not all people are in good employment, Britain is on a real downturn, job wise. No investment by the big companies.
So definitely NO

Living In England is expensive the tax we pay here on everything is a rip off the countrys infrastructure is falling to bits the health service is over used waiting times for treatment are doubling all major employers ie banks are all moving their call centres to india etc.To rent a 2 bedroomed house now is about £450.00 per month and this is for the average two bed roomed terrace house.Petrol prices have gone sky high, wages are not keeping up with other price hikes so yes England is very expensive place to live indeed.

I'm not English but I spent some time living and work in London (6 months), Inverness in the north of Scotland (3 months) and Edinburgh (9 months).

Although, the strength of the English pound is much lower than that of my own currency, I did find that it was easy to save there. London particularly so. As i didn't wan't to waste time looking for work, i worked in restaurants and cafes. I found there was plenty of work and good tips. In London my tips were so good they paid the rent. However, do note that accommodation is extraordinarily expensive. If you are looking to save, the only way to do it is to stay in shared accommodation. You'll find lots of adverts here: http://www.gumtree.com ..... Employers also advertise here for both casual and long term positions. Food and clothes in England can also be picked up very cheaply. On the other hand, eating out, going to pubs, cinemas and entertainment is expensive.

So yes, you can save in the UK but how much will depend on your lifestyle........Good Luck.
