I've been seeing things on television like George Clooney saying how the UK views the US as a bunch of bullies, but most of that comes from politics (imo). Personally, I see the UK as the fathering country of the US. Yes, we had a fall out in the past, but blood is always thicker than water and we always stick together. UK is family and we need to help each other when needed. Maybe my statement is outdated, but personally I'll believe in UK as much as the US. You really can't separate the two anymore.

As a British person I feel quite well qualified to answer this! 8-)

The US governement is not popular with much of the British public. Many of us don't like your foreign policy and are appalled at the willingness of our own government to acceed to everything the US directs.

This animosity is not directed toward the American public who we generally see as a separate entity from the politicians. Though there is intense frustration here at the way many US citizens fail to question the actions of those in power in the States. If we don't agree with something here we say so. It's perceived that US citizens, even if they are not Bush admirers, feel it is unpatriotic to question or critiscise their own govt - and this is not something the British public can easily understand.

There is frustration here that the UK seems unable to act independantly of the US, like say, France, who will not have their foreign policy dictated to them.

I think America feels closer to the UK, than the UK feels to America right now. The fact that so many US posters feel they could answer a question about how the UK public feel about them illustrates the problem - always speaking on our behalf!

I can't really speak for America, but in most places of the UK people won't really care if you're in an interracial relationship. Most people have more important things to worry about.

You have to separate the two if you have any type of intelligence. Not only are we separated by language(Oxford English is way different than American English), but also politics and culture.

Be proud of our US originality. Don't lump us in with any other group. Regardless of roots (seceding from Britain) don't forget the United States are a MELTING POT.

We're not popular overseas anywhere at the moment. Sure we get kudos for the "American Dream" but we are demonized for our role in Iraq.

No matter how many people still think it is 1`776, the Americans and British will always be together fighting the bad guys. We are together on terrorism, and all the evil in the world. We help each other out in wars and help each others Countries.
