There are quite a few books in print and out of print about Yorkshire. But i think i can safely say we are the only people that have a pudding that can be eaten as a starter, with the main course or for dessert.

Nay lad tha knows nowt if tha thinks as Yorkshire could be funny or weird. It's as plain as nose on thee face as how we Yorkies are well known for us lack of a sense of humour and weirdness.
Any road up here's t'weirdest thing I have seen in Yorkshire (except folk from Manchester)
In Longwood, Huddersfield, there is a nice little café called Scotty's - obviously named after the owner - Dennis Scott. I've been in Scotty's several times to sample his wares - he does a mean Pie & Peas. It's a cosy place with these unusual 'things' decorating the walls. I seem to remember my Grandma having one. What on earth are they? I asked Dennis. ' They're possers' he said. They were used for many years to assist in washing clothes before mechanical or electric appliances were around. In Scotland they are know as Chums. Americans call them Plungers.'

Here's one.
Halifax was one of only a few town in England to have a guillotine or "gibbet" as we called it in Yorkshire. It used to be on Gibbet street not surprisingly. Hull also had a Gibbet so there was an old Yorkshire phrase.
"Heaven spare me from Hell, Halifax and Hull".
